Sephora Is Going For Korean Beauty Products: 3 New Brands!

Hey hey hey! Have you guys been to Sephora recently? Did you know that three new Korean skincare brands have just landed on Sephora Singapore shelves? Last weekend I was on my weekly beauty tour to Sephora, at first glance I thought that I mistakenly entered the backstage of K-pop!

Korean Beauty Products Singapore

Posters of Cute Korean girls all over the place with colorful hair and creative makeup looks. Everything was loudly screaming K-beauty and that did not make me anything but more curious to know what the hype is all about. I walked my way through the sections trying to spot what’s new and thought of sharing it with you all. So let us get started ūüôā

Korean Beauty Products Singapore

A wide range of this south Korean brand is available at Sephora now. Their products are known for innovative formulations that have been causing a hit lately, especially the much raved about Patting Splash Masks. Not to forget the Crystal Ice Plant Pressed Serum which supposes to combine the two cooling hydration and pore-minimizing benefits. I never tried any of their products yet, but have got my eye on some ūüėČ

Korean Beauty Products Singapore

Another Korean skincare brand can be found at Sephora, Caolion all-natural products are full of new formulations Aiming to awaken the natural beauty of the skin. The star product of the brand is the Pore Foam Cleanser Duo, the cleanser has the power of steam to deep cleanse pores and a cooling foam to refresh and tighten pores. In addition to that, Caolion is famous for the Pore Original Pack which promises to draw out impurities and tighten pores. I myself have a major skin concern with enlarged pore .. maybe I finally find my cure at Caolion?! Will try and see ūüėČ

This Korean cosmetic star produces only creative masks, yeah all mask series from hair to toe beyond your imagination. Their philosophy is to make affordable salon quality products that can be easily used at home. Have you seen a mask that comes in Slices like real cut cucumbers? Kocostar interesting and fun Slice Mask Sheet comes in four flavors .. sorry meant “types” ? lemon, watermelon, cucumber and tomato slices to apply on areas we want to target! Who can’t fall for Korean beauty craze ah?

kocostar Korean masks

Undoubtedly, Sephora’s love towards k-beauty is growing stronger and stronger over time. Being more accurate It is not only Sephora but more likely Western companies started to navigate towards Asian beauty innovations, especially Korean ones. The well-known Boots has recently extended over more k-beauty additions like Skinfood and Caolion too.

So that’s for my little tour. Hope that my fellow makeup artist in Singapore find it helpful! If anyone has tried any good products from the new Korean brands available at Sephora, share your opinion down in the comments!

Clarins Double Serum Singapore

Youth Booster Express Service At Clarins Singapore

Under the Slogan ” Youth is timeless”, Forget about passing time.. And let Double Serum take care of your youth.

I was lucky to indulge in the 30-min Youth Booster service organized by Clarins Singapore to discover their latest anti-aging solutions. When I arrived at their special booth at Paragon mall, The beauty specialist started out by cleaning my skin gently using Clarins Water Comfort One-stop Cleanser, this cleanser is rinse-free formula and instantly removed all makeup that I was wearing.

clarins singapore

She Spread evenly a generous amount of Clarins Extra-Firming Mask on my face and left it for 10 minutes. This mask has cream-gel texture with relaxing mauve color. It helped visibly in smoothing my stress lines, restoring firmness and reviving my face radiance.

I must not forget to mention that while waiting for the ten minutes to pass, the beauty specialist gave my a very relaxing arm and hand massage using Hand And Nail Treatment Cream. A rich moisturizing cream with Shea that softens hands and strengthens nails as she explained.

After cleaning what left of the mask on my face by a cotton pad soaked with White Plus Brightening Pure Aqua Lotion. She moved to my eyes and we all know that first signs of aging appear around the eyes! She applied Multi-Active Eye Revive Cream and massaged it gently in the area around my eyes from the inner corner and outwards.

Now comes the star of Clarins anti-aging collection, The Double Serum which is powered by 20 pure plant extracts used to build the double serum formula which was inspired by the skin hydro-lipid nature. The serum has both oil and water base to deliver maximum results to the skin.

clairins products singapore

She showed me the right way to apply the serum by warming few drops in the hands and start applying it to the face and neck without pressing. Then she started to press down gently on my forehead, cheeks and neck. This method of applying the serum is called The Touch Of The Nature.

Last step in the anti-aging treatment was applying Multi-Active Day Early Wrinkle Correction, a cream-gel which fights the effects of daytime stress.

After finishing the last step of treatment, the specialist kindly offered to apply BB Beauty Perfecter with SPF 30 to protect my skin from sun. Finally she swiped some mineral loose powder all over my face to unify my skin tone and add radiance to my face.

Clarins has always been one of my favorite brands when it comes to skincare. What about you? Have you tried any of their anti-aging products? I would like to hear about your experience.

eyebrow embroidery mistakes

The Most Common Eyebrow Embroidery Mistakes You Need to Avoid

Sitting in the MRT in one of my cutting-down-social-media days and trying to keep myself away from checking my mobile phone every second. So why not amuse myself in my second addictive habit; to draw people’s eyebrows in my imagination!

Oh My .. look at that lady sitting in the corner with short thick embroidered eyebrows like Yuki Yoshioka‘s from the students of Kamohashi Elementary. Or those masculine brows glued to this soft lady face making her look like Commander Amararo.

Ok .. Ok ..That’s enough! Said to myself while jumping out of the eyebrow-disastrous cabin and thinking of all the problems result from poor eyebrow embroidery!

These problems may result from unqualified or inexperienced makeup artist or could be a skin related issue too. So Here is the most common eyebrow embroidery mistakes and problems that you should avoid:

Infection!! Infection!!
Believe me getting an infection is the worst can happen to your recent eyebrow embroidery. One of the first things you should look for when deciding to get your eyebrow embroidery is sanitary and hygiene precautions. I always recommend my clients to Keep their eyebrows clean and making sure not to pass bacteria to their brows by touching them unwittingly. It is very important to follow after care instructions to get the best results.

Wonky Eyebrow Shape
Ok ladies .. We are not going to spend a fortune to get Krillin eyebrows! First thing we are looking for when we get eyebrow embroidery is to have the best eyebrow shape that flatters our face and frames our features. This is why I devote enough time to analyze my client face measurements and what eyebrow shape suits her the best.

Right brow is thicker than left one!
I get a huge amount of  phone calls and emails from ladies seeking solutions for their asymmetric eyebrow embroidery. When it comes to symmetry it is not a guesswork here, drawing both brows with waterproof pencil and assure that eyebrows are even is a must!

Blurry hairstrokes
Unfortunately,¬†this is the most problem I see everyday! Blurry strokes don’t fade away easily. Implanting the pigment very deep into the skin with heavy pressure is the reason for blurry strokes as well as oily skin with large pores tends to blur the strokes.

It is gone!
The skin does not retain the pigment and eyebrow embroidery is no longer existent. This problem tends to happen when the artist implants the pigment very superficially into the skin, or if the client did not follow the after care instructions and picked their eyebrows during peeling off phase. And we always have to remember that there is slight percentage of persons who are not candidate for Semi-Permanent Makeup treatments.!

Funny Eyebrows color
Grey, purple or even red eyebrows are a common problem of eyebrow SPMU enhancement. These funny colors happen due to poor quality of the pigments, or choosing the wrong color to the skin tone. Fortunately, I could successfully correct many odd-colored eyebrows by using special color modifiers.

Color of Eyebrow Embroidery does not match your eyebrow hair
This problem could happen when the client insists on choosing a certain color that does not match their brow hairs thinking that eyebrow embroidery is like makeup. To achieve the best semi-permanent results it is very important to choose the right color for the skin and natural brow color.

Tight Hair-strokes Heals Awfully!
I have seen an advertising recently claims to draw 600 hair-strokes in each brow! Believe me, ladies,¬†this would look fantastic and super natural but only for the first couple of days. Don’t let the photos fool you! A week later the results will be a big disaster. Close hair-strokes and almost touching each other will heal blurry and solid looking brows .. which I think you don’t need it. Too scary for your boyfriend, trust me!

Still have to pencil my eyebrows.
Let’s agree that most ladies decide to get eyebrow embroidery to save the daily amount of time spent on drawing their eyebrows. Certainly, it is quite disappointing when eyebrow embroidery does not deliver the promising result. I try to solve this problem by choosing a more vivid color on touch up session or by using different techniques like soft shading to give more definition for the eyebrows. I will write about on how to choose the right pencil for your eyebrows very soon.

It did not last as it is supposed to!
Sadly The longevity of eyebrow embroidery is something can not be predicted. It is due to many factors like skin type, embroidery on oily skin tend to fade faster than normal to dry skin. Bad and unhealthy habits like smoking or sun exposure have an impact on the longevity of the eye embroidery too.

These are the most common eyebrow embroidery mistakes. Each case might require a¬†different technique of correction or special eyebrow semi-permanent makeup treatment. Don’t hesitate to send me your picture if you wondering on how to fix your eyebrows? ¬†You can always consult me by email for free ūüėČ ¬†rkelani[at]hotmail.com.

singaporean makeup

How to Put on Makeup Like Singaporean Girls

Since the first day I moved to Singapore, I could not help myself not to fall in love with Singaporean ladies style. I admired their cute dolly-look with soft dewy skin, long wispy lashes and rosy lips. I kept wondering, how do they manage to look so beautiful and feminine?! How long does it take them to put on their makeup?! What product and tools they use?!

Searching for answers to all these questions popping into my big head, I succeeded to reveal some of the Asian ladies makeup secrets! Here is my first round of discoveries ūüôā

Glowing Healthy skin

Having clear and flawless skin is the first rule to achieve the Singaporean makeup look. No wonder now to see all these long queues at skincare counters wherever you go in Singapore shopping malls. ladies here are obsessed over sheet masks, serums, eye creams and every single product that promises to conceal their skin impurities.

Light Foundation To Brighten Up Your Face!

Whenever I step into any makeup outlet looking for a¬†new foundation, the first tip I got there is to go for one or two shades lighter than my skin. And why is that?! The answer comes .. It brightens your face ma’am!¬†

singapore makeup foundation

Dewy Skin

And who doesn’t love the strobing look? It is my absolute favorite trend .. I rather think this is a common thing among all women around the world. but with a tiny little difference in Singapore, ladies here like to swipe their highlighter merely over the bridge of the nose and from the inner corner of the eye along the lower lash-line.

Cute Doll Eyes

Eyes are an important feature when it comes to Singapore makeup trends. For a dramatic look; Singapore makeup focuses on winged eyeliner with a pop of shimmery peachy-pink eyeshadow at the inner eye corner.

singapore doll eyes lenses

Falsies are a MUST!

Whether getting permanent eyelash extensions for those who can afford it, or applying a pair of artificial falsies! Their makeup looks won’t be complete without lashes!

Eyebrows that are full and arch-less

Singaporean women don‚Äôt leave the house without defining their brows‚ÄĒalways thick, straight-across lines completely lacking arches. Eyebrow embroidery and semi-permanent makeup enhancement are very common in Singapore for both genders!

eyebrow singapore

Contact Lenses that change everything!

Yeah .. The enlarging circle contact lenses are made to give eyes a big dolly effect. These lenses are larger in diameter than normal lenses, with a thick outer rim to emphasize the size of the eyes. Eccentric colors like super pinky green or crystal grey are so trendy in Singapore, yet some still go for light brown or blue.

eyes makeup singapore

Flushed cheeks

Singaporean makeup emphasizes on cheeks which seem to flush naturally. Creating a natural-looking ‚Äúflush‚ÄĚ is no more a trick. Simply use a rosy blusher and dab it on cheeks sparingly to add color and contour your face at the same time.

Sucked on strawberry lollypop lips

Perfectly lined lips or matt nude shades are not that trendy on this island. Looking natural and innocent is the trick here. Singaporean women simply apply rosy lip tint on the inner part of their lips for more natural appearance.’

Later on, I will write more about the Singaporean Eyebrow trends. If you have any comments or feedback, you can always drop me a line. Cheers!
